Winamp Doesn't Do Anything..

I fresh installed it and it's still doing the same thing all of a sudden. I've been using this for years with no problems and now it literally does nothing.

http://i.imgur.com/beZ33tF.png

I open winamp, it goes to the now playing tab and the mouse starts flashing really fast. As you can see in the picture, it cranks my CPU usage to 20% from winamp and does nothing. I've tried clicking on things and it doesn't work, i've tried waiting and that does nothing either.. I just want to listen to my music

OS: Windows 7 64bit and i've done a fresh install 3 times now..

EDIT: if i click on the "now playing" tab or "online services" it makes it so i can't do anything in winamp. If i force close and restart it, it opens the same tab leaving me unable to do anything. I can re-install and try not to click on one of them..

5.62 is not the current version. install 5.63 or try the 5.7 beta (since if that also crashes though hopefully it shouldn't, it's easier to debug against the current code base than something from a few ~2 years ago.

I installed an earlier version to see if it was just the new version doing this and the earlier version did the same thing.

so as said in my post, you then need to try using the 5.7 beta and see what that does. and if it crashes and is able to generate a crash report, then attach the crash report zip to a post in this thread. as going to older versions makes it a complete pain to try to debug issues, hence the need to use what is 'current' which is the 5.7 beta (as a lot has been done to fix random crashes, etc so comparing even to the 5.63 code is not viable).

I just installed the beta and it's doing the same thing, mouse flickers like it's loading something and anything related to getting data from the internet is causing it to freak out. Clicking on the browser, winamp addons, now playing, or just the bottom "show info" causes it to stop working and just freeze. The mouse continues to flicker and it uses 20% CPU but it does not close and crash.

Could this have anything to do with me no using internet explorer and having in un-installed from my computer seeing as that's how winamp uses the internet connections/browser?

go to %programfiles(x86)%\Winamp\Plugins and delete ml_nowplaying.dll and then try again.

only thing i can think off which might be causing the weird behaviour on loading of the view is you maybe have done something to remove IE from your system or have a 'N' version of Windows ?

[edit]
you'd edited your post whilst i was making mine. so i was right in that you've removed IE from your system. i guess i'll have to make a VM and replicate the same setup. how did you remove IE from your system ?

I went into uninstall programs and then windows features and unchecked internet explorer. I use chrome and have been for the last 3 years and haven't had any problems with winamp so it's really confusing me.

It did the same thing when i started winamp, I'm currently stuck on the cloud window and i can't click anything else. Winamp Lite worked perfectly with no issues but when i installed the full version because i'm in need of a library it went haywire

you're really not making this easy to help you.

your screenshot showed only 'now playing', no other nodes which will cause the loading of a web page. so during the process you've changed what is present in your Winamp install but not said. wonderful.

delete any of these plug-in dlls if present in %programfiles(x86)%\Winamp\Plugins

ml_clouid.dll
ml_addons.dll
ml_online.dll
ml_nowplaying.dll

and if that still doesn't do it, http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins is needed and when you next update Winamp, you need to ensure you uncheck them on the components page (unless i can get a fix in 5.7 which prevents the need to do that).

My screenshot showed the now playing because i cannot click on anything else in winamp. Prinscreen doesn't show my mouse with the loading circle constantly flickering. I'm not trying to make anything difficult, I saw there was a winamp update, i installed it and this happened since then. I removed the dlls and it's still flickering and i'm not able to click on any other tabs or lists.

but what you've said in the prior post then contradicts what was in the initial screenshot (which is what i'd been working against).

either way, http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins is now needed. also, a screenshot of how your Winamp install now looks like.

and so far, i've not been able to replicate the issue though i'm only able to test the uninstalling of IE via the OS's options on Win8 x64 and not Win7 x64 (until i spend the time setting up a Win7 virtual machine - as i refuse to potentially ruin my development machine).

I attached the file to the post

http://i.imgur.com/kbSX2Ke.jpg

I've added orange dots beside everything that makes it freeze and stop responding when clicked on. This is a fresh install of the full version with nothing changed because the previous .dll files that were removed did not change anything that was happening.

try removing %programfiles(x86)%\Winamp\System\ombrowser.w5s

that should do it for everything other than the 'browser' tab. only thing is then all of those parts will just show an empty colour block but it's better than it locking up (until the cause can be worked out).

though i'd probably try re-installing IE and then removing it to see if that made any difference when ombrowser.w5s is still present as the bits we use should still be present, unless you've done other removal of IE from just the OS's option e.g. using some uninstaller program.

It still loads and flickers while the bottom info panel is open but when i clicked "Hide Info" after about 30 seconds it stopped trying to load whatever it was loading and appears to work normally, as long as i "hide info" in every section.

I've already re-installed and restarted the computer with IE and a fresh installation as well as removing IE and trying again. I would have thought it was just a re-install simple fix as i've been using winamp for years without a single issue.

preferences -> media library -> local library -> uncheck 'Display 'Show Info' in media and album views' to hide that part permanently.

well at the moment i don't know what is causing it as 'flickering' can only mean something is trying to load and what that is i don't know as so far i'm just not able to reproduce the issue.

i'd even go and start to do complete virus scans of your system just in case something has hijacked the OS. and Winamp cannot have caused the issue to my knowledge as we just call what the OS provides to programs to use for embedding web pages into themselves.

maybe the installer should have a custom install type called "No IE" or something like that? granted, not a common issue, but certainly a plausible one and thorny!

Hi mewn,

What do you mean by the mouse is loading something? Has it turned into the hourglass and there is no way to tell what may be causing it?

What version of Winamp are you using now? From your info report of 6/10/13 you were using 5.7.0.3402. The current beta is 5.7.0.3417. That report also showed 2 folders for Winamp system components. In my Windows 7 confirguration only 1 folder is used for that. Maybe you should post a new info report with the latest version of Koopa's tool (link below).

http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=328932

When you removed everything, did you reinstall using the custom mode? If not, you can run the installer again in custom mode and do not install the tray component and the browser add-ons (unless you really need them).

Winamp uses the Windows Internet Explorer engine for some of it's features. Do you have IE enabled and what is it's Internet Zone security level set to?
