.WMA Files No Longer Work

Last night i tried to play some .wma in winamp (they always played before) but. now they just get skipped in the playlist and only mp3s play. has this happened to anybody else and is there a fix? i already tried to reinstall winamp and there is still no change with the problem.

Have you recently downloaded Windows Media Player 7 or higher? Windows Media Player has a tendency to shove it's foot up Winamp's @$$.

yeah i did download a new version of WMP about 3 weeks ago. i noticed too when i went to check if other programs played my .WMA's that WMP 7.1 had to download a new audio codec. i downloaded a fresh version of winamp and the alternative wma plug-in and it made it worse my winamp totally froze.

The only fix is to reinstall Windows Media Player 6.4

WMP7.1 and/or WMA v8 codec kills support for WMA in Winamp & all other players

yeah .wma's do bite the stank one. they are just some files (107 of them) that i had left over from my early days of ripping music. rest assured .WMA's will never set foot on my cpu again.

Same here.

The biggest pain in the ass to me is Window Media in general. On any of the WMP's, if you play a Windows Media file of any kind which is even the least bit corrupted, the player acts as if you pressed the Stop button when it reaches that bad bit. Really annoying for movies.
