whats a stam ripper? what ver winamp? OS? file type?

have u tried playing files in other apps? it sounds more like a driver / physical issue to me, than a winamp issue.

there were some DSP plug-ins where the trial version will introduce hissing / white noise into the stream at certain amounts. a plug-ins list (as per http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins) is really needed (as is instructed in the sticky threads).
