Who is/are the best skinners?
Who is/are the absoulte best skinners, in your view?
The reason I ask is: (a) out of curiosity (b) so that I (and others) can be pointed in the direction of great skins we might not have seen yet (c) seeing their names repeatedly mentioned would give those good skinners a well deserved ego tickle. Many skinners come close, but for me the best two are Raj I/O and ampburner. |

what i think is that skinners hardly change their style or direction in their skins even after a few have been completed. sometimes their work turns out good, sometimes not so good when compared to previous work while most of the time their work seems to be repeat itself, while each skin just uses different colours etc.
so the type of skinner i prefer is someone who can change the style of skin almost every time they make a new one, because the ones who keep doing the same style skin do get boring after a while. the fact is many skinners do repeat alot. [my opinion doesnt count tho ![]() |

PeaceMaker, I totally agree. I, for one, am one fo the skinners who is stuck on repeat. The reason why, however, is that I skin for myself and I like my style. I like have cbutton labels like that or sliders like this.
That's why, working on a WA3 project is such a release for me. I can do what I like (obviously with the agreement of my mystery collaborator). I can have eq bars without sliders or curvy volumes, if I want. It's also worked out nicely for me with regard to boundaries. One of the things I worry about most with WA3 is boundaries. Since they are none (except the screen size) it's hard to control your work. Thankfully, on my current project i have very strict boundaries which have been set for me. I'm actually challenging myself just to fit everything in without it being a quagmire of pixels. Anyway enough about me. Favourite skinners: anybody who finishes any skin, even skinner.exe. The ones who did it all themselves have their star rating for comfort, those who use skinner.exe - well at least they realise that skinning is a fun way to customise your Winamp. If you want a "proper" answer, I'd rather show you my favourite skins. |

I'm glad this is turning into a 'favourite skinners' thread and not a 'best skinners' thread.
My favourite skinners? Steve Moss, Raj, Teo Katsuragi (sp?) aka. Raydream. ![]() |

Yeah, allright, it might look stupid. But I didn't realise there were recent threads like this when I posted. After Jones pointed me in the direction of another thread (and that thread pointed me in the direction of another) I posted on those. I wouldn't have started this thread otherwise. |

Just abouta everyone in "Winamp2 Skins" (still can get used to that) is a good, if not great skinner. Everyone's got their own unique style, but the finished product is always cool.
