The mp3 decoder seems to use id3v2.4 in the playlist whenever it is available...how do I set it so it uses id3v1?

you can't

the best solution would be to remove the id3v2 tags with a tagging program that supports mass tagging

search the forum for program suggestions

What if removing id3v2 tags is not an option, any other workarounds? Plug-in's that'd do the trick?

25 views already, of which 22 have been by people wondering where this guy has got v2.74 from. Winamp 2.73 is just about to be officially released, but 2.74 . . .
Maybe this was a typo, or maybe it's a post from the future that somehow got mysteriously caught up in a tachyon vortex slipstream.
Ooh . . . spooky!

ps. Sorry, I don't have an answer to your question.
If my theory above is correct, the answer should be available in a couple of months or so

Or you could just uncheck the ID3v2 tag in Winamp's File Info/ID3 Tag Editor (Alt+3)

you could use the old nitrane mp3 decoder from http://www.winampheaven.com

download in_mp3_234.zip and unzip the files to \program files\winamp\plugins, it will overwrite the newer plugin

this old decoder reads only id3v1 tags, but the sound quality is inferior to the newer versions with Fraunhofer decoder, however the 100 Hz bug is fixed in version 2.34

edit:
you could also use one of these alternate mp3 plugins (you have to disable in_mp3.dll in it's configuration)

in_mpg123 (id3v1): http://www.geocities.co.jp/Technopol...in_mpg123.html

MAD (id3v1.1): http://www.mars.org/home/rob/proj/mpeg/mad-plugin/

Winamp 2.22 Fraunhofer decoder (id3v1, cannot play MP1/MP2): http://dkutsanov.chat*****in_mp3.zip
