bus error with mp3 encoding in sc_trans
Hi,
Im wondering if anyone can help. My server's been running fine on my mac now for a couple of months. Today i decided to change the encoder type to mp3 (so i could use a flash player more easiliy on my site). I got the mp3 code, i put it in my config according to the docs, as far as i can tell i've done everything according to the examples, but then when i restart i get a bus error and sc_trans closes. 2012-03-02 09:54:06 I msg:[MAIN] Streaming thread starting 2012-03-02 09:54:06 I msg:[SOURCERELAY] Thread starting 2012-03-02 09:54:06 I msg:[RESAMPLER] Deactivated 44100/2 == 44100/2 2012-03-02 09:54:06 I msg:[SOURCEANDENDPOINTMANAGER] Encoder thread 1 starting 2012-03-02 09:54:06 I msg:[SOURCEANDENDPOINTMANAGER] Broadcast thread 1 starting 2012-03-02 09:54:06 I msg:[MP3ENC] 878447264/44100/2/192000 Fraunhofer IIS MP3s Encoder V04.01.00 (build 2007-03-15) 2012-03-02 09:54:06 I msg:Using internal encoder sample rate of 44100 Hz, bandwidth 22050 Hz, MDCT low pass active Bus error: 10 macfuckingpro:server East$ Im currently on OSX 10.7.2, Lion. based on the error message and that you're using 10.7.2, it could be anything from the encoder/decoder libraries not being compatible since the v2 DNAS is only built / tested on 10.5 as that's all i've currently got access to so it could be anything from not liking such older compiles (wouldn't be surprised with Apple) or you've hit a new bug or it's something to do with the input file(s) you're using i.e. if it happens on the same file everytime then it could be a library bug for example.
either way, i'm not sure what is the cause and like the other thread, i've no solution to the issue (which i never got a follow up on anyway, hence never even attempting to try to progress the issue any further). -daz |

Thanks for your reply DrO, i appreciate it. I can offer any log files you require, or even give you straight ssh login details into my server if you want, i think you were asking for something similar on the other thread.
Unfortunately i can't downgrade my OS, or change my OS to a different one, unless i throw together a linux box perhaps. That wouldnt be ideal thought really... :S What would you suggest? I know the license was only $5 but if i can't make use of it would it be out of the question to ask for a refund? |

as things currently are, there's little chance of me getting any time soon to even attempt to look into such an issue so i'm not too sure what to say / suggest as my hands are tied as such.
as for the refund, it would probably make sense if you're limited to only working on Mac and you're not able to use it - i don't have any dealings with such things so i'm not sure how simple it is to get a refund (depending on when it was purchased through digital river, etc). -daz |

Righto, thanks anyway, and for the rest of the help you've indirectly given me. Sucks though, SC is great!

I have the same issue, just bought a Mac Mini with Mountain Lion and I got "bus error 10" as well when trying to set up a MP3-stream. AAC works just fine, but MP3 crashes.
There is no progress here? Should I move to Linux instead? Any ideas? ![]() |
