How to play mp3 url while downloading?

Is it possible to configure winamp to start playing an mp3 url when clicked on, while its downloading? Kind of like the way quicktime & windows media player does. Right now I get a message box asking if I want to save to disk or open file? I am using windows xp. Any help would be appreciated...djmarxx

Try constructing a pls file that points to the remote mp3.

Check out the "M3U and PLS Specification" thread in the Tech Support Greatest Hits forum for m3u and pls specification.

Is that the only way to do this? There is no way to configure winamp to just pop up and start playing the mp3 url after double clicking on it?

Nope. QuickTime and Real have browser plug-ins, Winamp does not.

More workarounds:
Simply drag+drop the url into winamp (main window to play, playlist to enqueue);
Right click url -> copy shortcut -> paste into Winamp's open/add url box;
Or select "open" on 1st click, and "save" on 2nd click.
