I just opened this threat out of being nosy about other people's desktop layout .
So if you feel like, take a screenshot of your desktop right now and post it here in this thread to brag about how pretty & beautiful your desktop is.

Lemme show you mine.
That shot has been taken from my old computer which I am using right now (my new computer is being used for server purposes now at the moment ), running @ 800x600 pixels in 32 bits true-color.

Yeah, I know my desktop is completely overloaded with icons . Those who were wondering, the backdrop has been taken from a drawing by a superb artist called Eric Schwartz (does anybody remember him the time back we all had an Amiga?! *sigh*).

K, I am done. What about you? I am waiting .

PS to the mods: Please don't lock this thread.

Newbie Question Alert:

1) How does one just take a screenshot of the desktop like that?
2) Is there a way to post the pic without having webspace?

Ok thanks,

1) The Print Screen button on the keyboard DOES work. Just dump the clipboard into some photo software... and voila.
2) Not that I know of. Well, not really. Take a picture, e-mail it to me, and I will post it for ya if you want.

Ok, I remember 5 years ago when my desktop was too running at 800x600dpi with a lot of icons. But then I realized i'm not going to use (or see) the desktop a lot anymore, so I removed all from it, with the exception of 3 icons. Anywayz, here goes. I'm sure most of you will recognize all the little icons. And yes all those programs are registered/paid for. And yes that is ZoneAlarm Pro.

http://alienzworld.***********/snap.jpg

O ya, this is for people who want to see my Backround.

http://alienzworld.***********/back.jpg

Like I said... I never see it anywayz.

When will people learn? Opera will eliminate your need to have 3 trillion browsers open at once, choking your RAM, and putting a stranglehold on your precious taskbar real estate.

I've got 256 megs of ram so it doesn't bother me to have as many as 5 windows open at the same time. It's not unsual for me to have three memory hog programs running and be browsing the net at the same time. As soon as I can get up some money i'm a gonna slam another 128 megs in her.

I've got the Aliens Commemoration theme on mine, but I replaced the background with black tile cuz I hardly ever see it... The My Computer and Recycle Bin icons are spiffy, if I do say so myself...

Hey Sarge ...

Heh, I bet you do . The way it's being drawn just rocks ass . If you feel like downloading some pictures and stuff, follow this link. I recommend downloading them all - Since they just rule! Oh, some of these pics by Eric Schwartz are a little ... ummmm ... erotically emphasized. I am just saying, in case someone complains I did not warn you .

@ Kevin: Hmmmm, if I removed some icons off of my desktop, I would have to use the start menu, which is even more overloaded than the desktop . I have so much shit installed ... . Oh, one more thing, Kevin: Instead of being picky, what about posting your desktop screenshot so I can be picky too???

(*edit* - /me always type too fast ...)

Thanks for the link Budgie, you just made me remember why Amiga users scare the living shiznit outta me. I love the computer, but, well, let's just say Eric must have a lot of fans in the Amiga user base. Pretty screwy stuff if ya ask me.

Hey NateJC

Oh yeah, hell, I know what you mean, man .
I still have my old Amiga 1200 . I simply have to keep it just in order to bring me back good memories ... *sigh*.

But these Eric Schwartz graphics rule, don't they ?!
Many are just perfect to enhance your desktop as backdrop.

They do rule, however I prefer the 3D renderings of http://www.cognitivedistortion.com myself, as you can see in my newly enhanced desktop!

The pic doesn't do it justice, but Tripod refuses to recognize PNG's today. Go figure.

Well... Actually I DO use them all. Most of them on a daily Basis, open at the same time usually. Thats why they are on the quicklaunch. Lets see there is UB, SC, Fixit, Adaptec EasyCd Creator, Nero, WindowBlinds, WinAce, WinZip, ZoneAlarm Pro, Eudora, IE, Opera (Which I do realize I won't use up all my taskbar space if i use it), MSN Browser (Simply for the FileCabinets feature, ADSL connection, Netzero (I have no idea why I have it, AOL, Aim, Icq, MSN Messenger, AcDSee, CuteFTP (I Use this to upload files to wherever for my friends to get, and to maintain my webpage), FlashGet, Napster, BearShare, Gnotella, FileNavigator, AudioGalaxy, Wimp, WinAmp, And Locality (Don't ask what the name means. It is a text file, with important info (notes, e-mail addresses, scripts, and so on) that I use constantly.).

Not that anyone asked for all that, but o well. You should see my start menu... It's small and organized (Start Menu For Dummies). I did away with accessories, etc, and made my own categories.

@ NateJC: 3D-Renderings ...

3D-Rendered pictures being used as backdrop is cool, too .
Does anyone know Bryce4? I made THAT with the aid of that program. It rules - I would sit on my ass, rendering pics like these the entire afternoon .

Regardless, Eric Schwartz is old-school, and old-school rules .

Peace.

And by burying my Visual C++ folder a few folders deep in the menu, I have a great reason to be lazy instead of doing my work. Who says you need your icons in the Quicklaunch bar to be helpful to you?

Damn, your desktop just looks like you just made a fresh install . I mean, it looks so clean ... *sigh*. I personally fuck that quicklaunch stuff - I prefer an overloaded desktop full of icons .

Formatted a couple weeks ago, most stuff is in 2 catorgories in my start menu (Online and Offline Appz).

I only used 2.5gb which is mostly mp3s and *ahem* software and games, at a discount.

I hate a lot of icons. The ones there are iconpackager and a couple of mine, napigator and my colored aim.
