SHOUTcast Basic - Free (or not?)
Hello,
CHecking last changes on SHOUTcast i discovered as they finaly decided to release few features free of charge: Technical Features Compatible with any encoder (including V1 Legacy) Unlimited Stations Live Broadcasting Unlimited Simultaneous Listeners MP3 & AAC Format Supported (up to 320kbps) Scalability (Support up to 12,000 unique listeners) Support Backup URL SSL Support (Only on Linux) Audience monetization Ad Replacement Testing new features i discovered as SSL support and AAC Format are not working: "WARN [Licence sid=2] Format is not MP3, where only MP3 is allowed" "stream detected AACv4, LC (2), 22050hz, estimated 64 kbps" About SSL, server load certificate without error but the port for SSL can not be accesible So, are this features really free or not, testing last release on Linux as was suggested this 2 most important features are not free? |

Hey,
I see that you are using the latest version. If rebooting doesn't help, try contacting SHOUTcast. Although no support is included, they should be informed. ![]() |

MP3 & AAC Format Supported
(up to 320kbps) if you try anything in MP3 higher than 128 the server will disconnect frequently untill it's set back to 128 , lower bitrates won't disconnect the server. it seems that shoutcast updated the website but not the things mentioned there, it still looks like the old free plan. on the bright side of things... setting up the stream was pretty easy, it took me a whole 10 min...... |

To add to this, I've been looking at moving to Shoutcast for the monetization options. A free account has been setup and the latest Linux server software installed.
While AAC is listed as a supported codec at this level on your website, I'm also getting the "[Licence sid=1] Format is not MP3, where only MP3 is allowed" error. Is there a subscription I'm missing? Or are we waiting on a software change? |

The latter. We tried a serverside solution, but it does actually require a DNAS update, coming soon... |

DNAS v2.6.1 is now available via the RadioManager.
The text might still say 2.6.0 but the links point to 2.6.1.777 Once the text is updated and a few other things are confirmed, we'll update the main 2.6 Release post accordingly. There's no major changes other than it being free again... which is pretty major :-) |
