Remote control of PC -- why kill Lazik?
Hi,
So, Winamp has made an upsetting choice. First, to release the Winamp app without the ability to remotely control a PC Winamp instance with the app. This is disappointing, but understandable, not everything can be implemented the first time out. Much more egregious is to send spurious trademark infringement notices to remove perfectly good apps that already do this from the android marketplace, namely Lazik and aWinampRemote! Why do this? Where's the infringement? These are quality apps adding crucial functionality to your software that you've neglected to provide! This is a shameful course of events that may finally force me to abandon winamp, which I've been using for over 10 years. Please, either accelerate the development of this feature in Winamp for Android, or drop the trademark infringement claim. Or, preferably, both. Thanks, Dave |

I don't understand. Does Nullsoft want to shut down Lazik?

They DID shut down Lazik. It's gone from the android market. Check out the author's blog: http://www.bypops.com/en/2010/11/30/...-infringement/
Disgusting. |

That is really ridiculous. Was AOL (or whoever filed the infringement) even thinking before they've done this. Is it possible that they don't understand that applications like Lazik are promoting Winamp, and not the other way around?

That's a great question. I was hoping that by posting here it might get someone's attention, but maybe that's unlikely. Does anyone know how to get in touch with people who could correct what is certainly a big mistake, whether intentional or not?

Very disappointing. I've been using Lazik since it came out and noticed it was gone from the market when I got a new phone. It is such a well done app.
I have been using Winamp since 1998 and was a strong supporter from the beginning. I guess AOL's greedy lawyers have gotten their hands on it now. |
