play pause on android xperia z2 + smartband

I have winamp installed on my xperia z2 and I'm using the smartband that comes with it to control winamp basic functions, play, pause, next and previous song.

The smartband is controlling next and previous song but its failing to make play and pause work.

The phone came with walkman app to play music but I uninstalled and got winamp instead, because obviously winamp is much better , but the thing here is that the smartband could control the play pause of the walkman app successfully.
For that reason I'm guessing it could be something with winamp compatibility or config that could be preventing the play pause to work.

The only thing I have tried so far to make it work was to reboot the phone (I read a post on sony forum about someone having a similar problem on another phone and another music app and the reboot worked for him).

Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.
