Question Need help with containers and timers

I'm trying to make a script free up virtual memory by stopping timers it contains whenever the Video or AVS containers are opened and resuming them when they are closed, but I keep getting script failures. How can make it work?

Oh, and another thing:
How do you make a custom function's code assign the function's returned value?

...
Int Add(int n1, int n2)
{
int r = n1 + n2;
return r;

Well, so far i tried using the
Layout.onHide()
Layout.onShow()
commands where Layout is the only layout of the containers. I've tried using them for containers, but then the compiler returns an error saying that .onHide ands .onShow are not valid commands of the container class. Haven't tried them on components though. Will they work?

Oh, and the errors occur when I launch the skin (the black and red "GURU MEDITATION" error) saying:
"Script Failure. Left Click to continue"
and then the name of the script is given.

cant recommend this enuff, its so much easier if ya can know why yourself as you will know for next time & digest it easier than some1 doing it for you.

if you still get stuck after looking at this then bosh the scripts/skin up

Thanks for the useful link SLoB.
Anyway, there is this one elusive function I could use:
Boolean System.onGetCancelComponent(String guid, boolean goingvisible);
It doesn't crash but I can't get it to do anything. Does anyone know how to use it right?
