Putting the EQ bars in the main container....

I'm making a winamp 3 skin in which I want to put the equalizer in the main menu yet when I put in...

<slider
id="preamp"
action="EQ_PREAMP"
x="71" y="96"
w="8" h="35"
orientation="vertical"
thumb="player.eq.slider"
/>

<slider
id="eq1"
action="EQ_BAND" param="1"
x="83" y="96"
w="8" h="35"
orientation="vertical"
thumb="player.eq.slider"
/>

and so on till the 10th bar plus the eq buttons, and I start up winamp using my skin the program crashes...why? What do I have to do declare a container within another or what? I'm new to XML and am trying to figure it out but having problems. This is what my skin looks like so far and I want to put the eq bars on the top in the space provided...

any help will be very appreciated. Peace

i had a similar problem when made ovalamp (has thinger and EQ in main window). make sure all your graphics for buttons (especially for the sliders) are created, defined, and being linked to correctly. when winamp cant find a graphic it usually gives you a green "cannot find" icon, but not in the sliders...they must be defined. if thats not it reply with more info

The image definition is here:

<bitmap id="player.eq.slider" file="player/eq/eqslider.png" gammagroup="Sliders"/>
<bitmap id="player.eq.on" file="player/eq/on.png" gammagroup="Buttons"/>
<bitmap id="player.eq.auto" file="player/eq/auto.png" gammagroup="Buttons"/>
<bitmap id="player.eq.presets" file="player/eq/preset.png" gammagroup="Buttons"/>

And this is what the code for the eq is below....

<groupdef id="player.normal.eq" name="Equalizer">
<slider
id="preamp"
action="EQ_PREAMP"
x="71" y="96"
w="8" h="35"
orientation="vertical"
thumb="player.eq.slider"
/>

<slider
id="eq1"
action="EQ_BAND" param="1"
x="83" y="96"
w="8" h="35"
orientation="vertical"
thumb="player.eq.slider"
/>

This is what the code looks like yet it still crashes...any ideas?

Re: inline EQ

I've gotten the EQ to work in the main container with no problems whatsoever. The only difference I can see is that your EQ bars are in a groupdef, while I put mine just under the main layout. You can download my skin and poke around if you wish.

Another question....does it _crash_ winamp, or just give you a funny error?

Code looks fine to me, so it may be something other than your code that's doing it. I'd need to see all your file structure and definitions before I could know exactly what it was.

ZeLoneWolf I took these lines:

<eqvis
id="spline"
x="25" y="10"
w="230" h="20"
colortop="0,0,0"
colormiddle="0,0,0"
colorbottom="0,0,0"
colorpreamp="0,0,0"
gamma="192"
/>

Now my eq works, but I want it to be bars rather than a spline...does anyone have any input on how to do this? If someone could shed somelight on the issue it would be helpful...peace.
