Noise in speakers

I've recently purchased a new pc, and I use the onboard soundcard on my ASUS K8V SE Deluxe motherboard. I've installed the Soundmax drivers, and I've downloaded the newest version of Winamp.

Now there seems to be a noise in my speakers when I play mp3s in Winamp. It's sort of a 'crunching' noise that comes quite often.

I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem, or if there is anyone who has a solution to the problem.

Edit: I think the noise is more frequent when I play mp3s in 192 kbps.

It might have to do with the onboard SC- integrated products are almost always inferior to seperate products.

Try playing music in other software and see if it does the same thing.

If it works fine, post system specs.

I've tried playing mp3s in Windows Media Player and iTunes, but the same thing happens.

There is no problem with the sound in games (at least I haven't noticed) - it only occurs when playing mp3s...

Very strange.
