M4A and OGG Not Playing
I have installed Winamp Essentials and also have the K-Lite Codec Pack installed but .ogg and .m4a files do not play. Does anyone know why? Running winamp 5.601.

Please attach your List of Plugins log
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins You don't need to install any 3rd-party plugins for m4a or ogg support, assuming the default Nullsoft in_mp4.dll and in_vorbis.dll plugins are present and configured correctly. Are the .ogg files just audio only (ogg vorbis)? |

Hi scriber, you're missing a couple of essential plugins, in_vorbis and in_mp4 used to playback OGG and M4A.
Winamp's complete set of default input plugins should handle the majority of audio formats without the need for extra codecs. I'd suggest you make sure you have backups of anything you want to keep, then do a complete Uninstall > Re-install of the latest full version. Only start adding other 3rd party plugins, Essentials packs, etc. after you are satisfied OGG and M4A now play OK. UJ |

Hi I figured since I've got the same problem with m4a files that play in itunes someone could advise me on what to do? I just reinstalled winamp as advised before, maybe plugin incompatibility with x64?

What's the audio codec being used inside the M4A container for these files which won't play?
Are they ALAC (Apple Lossless)? It'll say what the audio codec is when you view the file info in Winamp via Alt+3, ie. under Format Info it'll specify one of AAC LC, HE-AAC or ALAC. AAC LC and HE-AAC are supported by default. If ALAC, then you will need to install the ALAC Decoder from the Essentials Pack |
