M4a Output Files Blocked from Indexing on Vista
Winamp Pro 5.62 on Vista Home Basic SP2.
A problem that I reported earlier has resurfaced in Pro 5.62. In brief, Winamp should remove the file attribute "N" from newly-ripped M4a files because this attribute blocks indexing by Windows Search. Ideally, Winamp should apply the same index attribute as for the rip output folder. If that is not practical, the default attribute should be "A", not "AN". Winamp applies only "A" to other types of audio output files. M4a output files should be the same. For full details and steps to reproduce the bug, see item # 56 of this thread from February, 2011: Winamp Blocks M4a File Indexing on Vista Doug M. in NJ |

Unable to generate ReplayGain data
Winamp is unable to generate ReplayGain data for certain files. I first noticed this in 5.62, but it's possible the problem arose prior.
Sample: http://www.mediafire.com/?ejb3jqblay9z88q Right-click playlist entry > Send to > Calculate Replay Gain returns +0.00 dB track and album gain. "Saving" this data has no effect; the tag editor continues to report "Track Gain: not present" and "Album Gain: not present". |

Oh my. Guess I should've searched with the search engine (or even my own two eyes) instead of Ctrl+F, then. Lesson learned.

i Have some problems with New Fraunhofer AAC Codec (enc_fhgaac.dll) ...
if you set bit rate more than 320 kbps (LC-AAC) for output file, and original file have sampling rate 44.1KHz... when you transcode the file you get sampling rate 88.2KHz for output file. (with files that have original sampling rate 48KHz and more all transcoded normally) sampling rate 88.2KHz cause compatibility problems with some players (Winamp 5.62 and Winamp 5.621, clean install, win7 x86) |

SPDIF output and skipping traks
If I have a playlist and want to skip several songs with FFWD button to skip track on the main panel, it can only skip one song at the time. I have to use the playlist to do so. I want this to work since i'm using hotkeys from a keyboard. Please fix it. It is annoying. I want to use Winamp, sicne it's giving me the shortest loadingtime and best experience of all the players out on the market. Sincerly

When RSS Subscription becomes invalid, Winamp crashes
I had an RSS podcast subscription. The RSS feed was fine one episode, and when they posted the new episode, Winamp crashed.
After reinstalling winamp and renaming a few media library files to narrow down the problem, I find that the specific RSS feed had become invalid, but since it was already in the subscriptions, it downloaded the new data anyway. Winamp doesn't appear to have a way to recover from when an RSS feed becomes invalid. I saved the RSS feed to notepad and opened it up in XML Notepad 2007 XML notepad 2007 said there was an error at a specific point. It was at a point: "She and her fianc矢roke up." was the line of text, and the error is clearly where the 矢 is. I imagine this is a unicode issue. Anyway, in short, Winamp shouldn't constantly crash if it accidentally downloads an invalid feed. It should either validate the feed before it updates it's own feeds.xml file (which ended up being the problem file), or it should incorporate better unicode support. The feed in question is: http://feeds.thestranger.com/stranger/savage Right now if you try to add it to the feed list, winamp says the RSS feed is invalid. The error happens when you had already had it added before the issue, and then click update. |

The v2.0 in_mp4.dll plugin that ships with winamp 5.572 will seek within an AAC/mp4 file without problems. Just swapping the plugin appears to work without any problems. I've confirmed that v2.4 in_mp4.dll (build date 11JUL11) also has the seeking problem listed above with v2.3. It will only allow seeking to the "chapters" where the JPG changes. Winamp 5.621 PRO!!!
Skin: Bento Windows XP and 7 Intel dual core 2.3Ghz, 4GB RAM Plugin: pmp_ipod Disc numbers are not synced to the ipod. This happens with both transcoded audio and non-transcoded. This is a BIG item keeping me from using winamp to sync my iPod. I have a large collection of multi-disc albums, with tracks in each album numbered 1-N and the album name the same for all discs (I _don't_ like the "Album (Disc N)" format and _don't_ want to number tracks continuously across discs). I use disc number and track number to sort tracks. Without disc number on the ipod, multidisc albums are not played properly at all. Please fix this! It seems to it this should be pretty straightforward and would make winamp my one stop shop for managing my audio! |

This is regarding ipod consistency with the official plugin. First of all, I'm experiencing this year-old crash: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=281485 that was never fixed. This crash occurs after transferring a lot of files to my ipod. Each time Winamp crashed, the database become more and more inconsistent: there are files on the ipod but Winamp doesn't know about them. My free space quickly went from 3.3 GB to 2.8 GB and it is impossible for me to fix.
Winamp needs to implement consistency checks, at least this very simple one: remove everything not in the database. |

Winamp Standard 5.62 on 32bit XP SP2
Bug related to in_midi.dll Some Doom .MUS files wont play while others do. It only happens with Winamp - in doom wad editors that are using same midiOut devices (in my case microsofts SW synth and timidity++ driver) everything works perfectly fine. Ive tried some older versions of Winamp with same result. Im attaching zip with some of the non-working ones, could anyone look into this problem? (yeah for me MUS playback is important ![]() |

Nullsoft Windows Media Decoder ignores Aspect Ratio on WMV files
Winamp 5.622, Clean install, Windows XP Pro SP3, 32bit.
I have found that the Winamp built-in WMV decoder (Nullsoft Windows Media Decoder 3.6) ignores the "Display Aspect Ratio" information in WMV files and always displays the videos with square pixels (with standard resolutions like 640x480, this means: 4:3) regardless of what Display Aspect Ratio is indicated in the file. With 640x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL) files that contain 16:9 material (also known as "anamorphic"), this means, the Image is squeezed together, as seen in this screenshot: http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/4962/169u.png You can test it with the following file: http://www.polizei.rlp.de/Uniform/blaue_uniform_640.wmv The file is absolutely standard conform, it correctly indicates the 16:9 display aspect ratio in the file (you can test this with the tool "Media Info" or just try to play the file in VLC player, which does scale it correctly). Also Windows Media Player 11 displays it correctly. Best regards, kzuse |

Hello everyone,
I found a problem with the jump to file function/plugin. The search dialog didn't appear sometimes, actually it looks like the main window was hiding it. Never happened until now. Looking a bit further I discovered that by deactivating the option "Skin the window in the current Winamp skin style" was solving this problem. I don't really care to have the search dialog skinned but I wanted to let you know since it looks like more people have this problem. Technical information: jump to file extra plugin version is : v1.2.4 (build 1159) winamp v5.622 (x86) Running on win 7 ultimate 64 bits. Skin used is Big Bento with "XP Noir" color theme. See you! |

i'm fully aware of the issue with the jtfe plug-in and have done so for over a year. however i cannot replicate the issue (managed to twice and then never again after code fixes which were made in 1.2.4 and 1.2.5 releases of the JTFE plug-in).
all i can assume is there's a settings conflict (as i've not been provided any winamp.ini to work against) but as i cannot replicate the issue i cannot fix it *shrugs* -daz |

It's clearly a bug in Winamp and was reported multiple times across the forums. People even started building workarounds for this. When forcing the phone not to be detected as Android (by removing/renaming the Android folder on the SD-card) the synced mp3 or whatever file retains it's embedded cover artwork. This is however only so little useful when one relies on players that make use of the system music library as entries/updates there are only made when Winamp knows it's talking to an android device. In other words: I can still confirm this bug 10 months and 3 Winamp versions after first reports in the most recent version 5.622. Is this even recognized as a bug or is this considered a feature and we should thank you for the file-size reduction of our tracks? [EDIT -> DJ Egg] Oops. This bug is now fixed for the next release. Thanks! |

Possible typo in Preferences window - Media Library > Library Options view
Winamp 5.623 (5.6.1.3199) - clean install
Winamp Language Pack = default English US Skin = Big Bento 64-bit version of Windows 7 (Service Pack 1) I seem to have found a possible typo on the Preferences window. Navigate to Media Library > Library Options. See the attached screen shot with typo and cut-off lettering circled in red. Hi jph6t,
Some dialog boxes (like the WA preferences box) used by many programs are a fixed size depending on display/screen resolution. They do not expand to fit the text they contain. If you have your system setup to make text easier to read (which expands text DPI to greater than 100% in order to expand small print without reducing your display resolution) then some lines of text in these fixed size dialogs will be truncated. I have my text size set to 125% by my OS. So as you suggested, this is the reason for the text being truncated. Trade-off I guess ... I'll just have to decide which is more important to me ... 125% text size or seeing all the text. Thanks again. #1 Wish - Album Art Config #2 Wish - Add Encoded Tag To The ML I recommend DrO's Plugins and ◊ Screen Lock Detector ◊ Power Hour ◊ ShnAmp ◊ TrayAmp ◊ WinampSwitch ◊ |

CD rip to M4A gets truncated filenames
I'm a naive user despite which I have used winamp naively for many years.
I recently upgraded to 5.623 and installed the full version. To my knowledge, I have no plugins beyond what comes with the full installer. My computer is a Dell laptop running Win7 64-bit. It has integrated graphics and 4GB RAM with an Intel i5 cpu. Apologies for this narrative, but please bear with me. Eventually, I want to know if I should report this as 1) a core bug or 2) a plugin bug. I bought a couple of CDs recently. These are published by Naxos ad are disks 1 and 2 of Vivaldi Oboe Concerti. I recall ripping Disk 2 first (because it arrived first). When the other disk arrived, I ripped that, too. I didn't try playing the ripped files until a day or so later when I was testing my new WD TV Live Media Player. Using the WD TV Live I was puzzled that the device said there were no media files in the directory for the Disk 2 rip. On my laptop, I navigated there to investigate and found that the files existed, but the names were still quite long, e.g. 01 - Stefan Schilli, Judit Kiss Domonkos, Gabor Kosa; Pier Giorgio Morandi- Failoni Chamber Orchestra - Viv but you may see that it is truncated compared to a file from the Disk 1 rip, e.g. 01 - Judit Kiss Domonkos, Stefan Schilli, Geoffrey Thomas; Bela Nagy- Failoni Chamber Orchestra - Vivaldi- Oboe Concerto In D Minor, Op. 8-9, RV 454 - Allegro.m4a I figured that was weird because I ripped Disk 1 after Disk 2, so I rechecked my rip preferences without changing them and re-ripped Disk 2. I waited for a couple of files to appear in the output folder and saw that their names, too, were truncated as before. I tried opening one of these files and Win7 couldn't figure out what program to use because the filetype extension is missing. So... Is this a bug already known and/or reported or should I proceed with the clean install instructions? Many thanks for your patience to have read so far. |

humbug: you need to change the output directory for where ripped files go to as your song titles are a lot longer than usual ones and as such is causing the path to be truncated to 259 characters in length (which is a limit imposed by the Operating System). Winamp probably should be better checking for / handling such scenarios but it's not been coded to do so and such long filepath+filename combinations are not the norm.

running evaluation windows 8 developer x64 (build 8102) atm., testing several software packs on it.
Winamp v5.623 runs on it, but in the media library you can, for example, open shoutcast radio or we are hunted, you can scroll through the first page but when you click/select the radio stations or pictures in the browser nothing happens. switching to several emulation modes like win7/vista/xp but that doesn't work either. anyone an idea? |

USB device cannot auto refresh
OS: win7 x64
Winamp: update v5.621 to v5.623 When I sent to some files to the usb drive (from winamp playlist or media library), I cannot see it in the "media library->Device->USB Drive [X]: ". Winamp v5.621 no this problem. So I reinstalled v5.621, it's OK! Perhaps some bugs in pmp_usb.dll. Sorry for my poor English. |

Bug with HE-AAC Playback
Bug with HE-AAC Playback
Version: Winamp 5.623 OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 and SP3 Clean install Today I noticed that in Winamp 5.623, when playing back a raw MPEG-2 AAC stream file (.aac) which is encoded in HE-AAC, the display of the Sample Rate and Profile in the file info box wrongly states that it is an LC-AAC file with only the half sample rate. The "resulting" sample rate (i.e. double the LC sample rate, by means of Spectral Band Replication) is not displayed. In fact, the file is decoded properly WITH SBR layer and the effective output Sample Rate is also displayed as current Sample Rate in Winamp's Main Window. Please see the attached screenshot which will make it more clear. In the info dialog, it says "Profile: LC, 22050 Hz", when it should really say "Profile: HE, 44100 Hz" (or "22050 Hz + SBR -> 44100 Hz" or something the like). Thanks! ![]() Best regards, kzuse |
