help: File info displayed in playlist

Sorry, if this is a newbie question, but I have played with Winamp and looked at the "classic" FAQ threads etc. to no avail.

My question is regarding how individual file info is displayed in the playlist.

I rip mp3s using RealOne so that the file name is "Artist-Album-Track#-Track Title" and basically this is exactly how I want the tracks to appear in the Winamp playlist.

As it is now, songs are displayed as "Artist-Title" only.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Does Winamp2 do this? I was pretty sure my friend was using Winamp 2.x and he had all the files listed in "artist-album-track#-track title" format...

ID3 tag display options is a feature of Winamp 2. If you are thinking about installing it, WA3 and WA2 can "live" on the same computer (if you want both). The current version is 2.91.

Why doesn't Winamp3 do XYZ like Winamp 2.x did?
Winamp3 is a complete re-write form Winamp 2.x. Therefore all features from Winamp 2.x would need to be re-implemented in Winamp3. Due to time limitations on Nullsoft a lot of the non-critical features from Winamp 2.x were left out of the original release. These features will be returning over time. They may not be in the next release, but most, if not all of Winamp 2.x's features are coming to Winamp3.

ok, (hopefully) one last question:

is there a fast way to change ID3 tag display for all files in a directory -- I can only seem to do it one file at a time.

thanks!

Are you trying to edit the information in the tags or do want to just change how the tags are displayed?

If you just want to change how the information is displayed (e.g. Artist after Title)...
1. Ctrl+P (for preferences)
2. Plug-ins > Input
3. double click 'Nullsoft MPEG Audio Decorder'
4. Title/Tags tab
5. under 'Title formatting (when ID3 tag is present)' make the changes you want
Note: The display changes will not take effect untill the file is played.

yeah, I was just trying to change the display in the playlist, not change the tags themselves -- finally figured it out.

thanks.
