Yeah that's what I have. Just got the 1.30 finished version and looking at the beta, but I was wondering how any other rippers compared. Huh maybe Winamp should make a plug in for CDex.

It is quite obvious he means make a CDex plugin for Winamp.

In support of aggressive sex with llamas, and freedom from the obligation to explain.

Unless...

He may be talking about something like Audiocatalyst and Audiograbber have. The ability to select an external player like Winamp instead of using the internal player. Maybe?

Winamp is a player
CDEX is a ripper

Now, how would you want to associate them ?

I use Audiograbber along with the Fraunhofer professional MP3 codec, the windows media codec, and especially the Lame MP3 encoder. Fraunhofer does well enough for fixed bitrate MP3's, and Lame outperforms it just a tiny bit for fixed bitrate mp3's and does an amazing job on VBR MP3's.

In order to rip music off from CDs and encode to MP3, I use pretty much the same setup like NeoRenegade does.

Audiograbber in conjunction with LAME does a perfect job for MP3s indeed.

For VBR MP3s, I use the following command-line: -V0 -mj -h --athtype 3 --lowpass 19.5 -b128. Makes best quality MP3s on higher-end soundsystems.

To find retail-versions of Audiograbber etc., go to http://reliz.ru, a russian FTP search-engine - Will find that stuff for sure .

Well, went offtopic again, oh well

Peace.

Some places to see comparisions of various encoders. Do not use Xing Audiocatalyst, it's fast, but makes very poor quality mp3s.
