enqueue as default action

I have checked for "enqueue as default action" to work for double clicking mp3 files. "play in winamp" is still on the top of the right click list. I have even tried removing "winamp play" from the registry, but enqueue just simply won't be the default. I run on windows 2000, is that a problem?

I've got the exact same problem. Have you figured out how to Enqueue as default?

Hi

Hmm . . . where did this thread come from?
And why haven't I seen it before?
Was it moved from another subforum?

First, go to Winamp 2 -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Filetypes
Checkmark "enqueue as default action"
Close, reopen, then close Winamp again.

Go to: Windows Folder Options -> File Types tab
Scroll down for & hi-lite the relevant file extension
(eg. MP3 = Winamp Media File)
Click "Advanced" (or "Edit" in Win9x)
Hi-lite "Enqueue in Winamp"
Click "Set Default"

I just ran through this... When I get to file types and pick the mp3, I hi-lite Enqueue in Winamp and click "set as default, this hi-lites "Enqueue in Winamp" but I still get Play upon right clicking. When I go back to start > settings > folder options > file type tab and look at the default which is still set to "Enqueue in Winamp" when I edit it the action says "&Enqueue in Winamp" but doesn't work.

I have winamp 2.81 on 98 with 128 MB RAM.
I have tried everything including reinstalling winamp and win 98.

I have followed to a tee the suggestions listed above and I see everything they are talking about, I hi-lite what I was told and yet I get PLAY instead of ENQUEUE when right clicking.

I have also noticed 40 or 50 people reading this thread since I posted but no more suggestions. Am I to assume that this can't be fixed?

Are you saying that "Enqueue in Winamp" doesn't even appear in the right click menu?
In Win9x Folder Options -> File Types, the extensions are listed by Description (not by Extension, as in WinME/2k/XP).
Is MP3 listed under "Winamp Media File"?
(left click the list of extensions and scroll along to the end of the list).

Is MP3 listed elsewhere, eg. also under "MP3 Audio" (or similar)?

If so, you've been hit by the evil RealPlayer curse:
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=30659

Either that, or a conflict caused by another mp3 player . . .

That is correct. When I go to the file type tab under start > settings > folder options, I see the winamp file types, I can find the one that says extention types are MIDI, MP2, MP3, I then go to edit and "enqueue in winamp" is the default but when I bring up winamp I don't see enqueue at all when I right click, only play.

ALSO, I should add... I went into ALL the winamp media file types and made sure they ALL were set to "enqueue in winamp" and still I see nothing under the right click of the mouse. I also checked to make sure all my file extentions were ".mp3"

WEIRD EH?

Where are you right clicking?
In the playlist window?
"Enqueue as default" is for when you double click files in Windows Explorer, or when you open links from the internet. It means it adds these files to the end of the current playlist, instead of clearing the playlist and playing said file(s).
There is no "enqueue" option when you right click items in the playlist, because they are already queued...

Well... That answers my question, there is no REAL enqueue at all. Adding things to the end of the list from internet explorer had no value to what a radio station is doing.

Geeze... if we could get the good things that wa3 offers and the nice plugin addons to work that wa2 offers on ONE application we'd have something. Thanks for you answers here. You have saved me alot of time. I did take the time to research this in the fourms but never ran across that fact that you can't enqueue in the playlist like you can in wa3.

Thanks again, and I look forward to wa3 working as well as this wa2 has over the past year.

Cool, no problem

You might also want to keep an eye on Winamp 2.90 development.
(2.90 will be the natural upgrade from 2.81)
The new Media Library offers an Enqueue function, with the option to make this the default action.
Note: 2.90 is currently in beta, but is due for official release in a matter of days.

Get it here:

Currently known bugs/issues (all hopefully to be fixed before final release)

Coolness...

However, I downloaded the beta version of 2.9, installed it (along with all my plug-ins) and it plays the same (nicely) but I still get no Enqueue in the playlist. When double clicking it plays (I have also checked the double click setting in the playlist editor) and when I right click it still says play with no enqueue in site.

I will keep my eyes open on 2.9 v.X
